This morning, I woke up to a cloudy sky, wondering whether it was going to rain or not. I was wondering whether I should ride my bike to work or drive my car. i decided to play it safe and drove my car. As I reached a traffic light, suddenly it rained heavily, and it rained almost the whole day. Sometimes you make decisions that you will not regret.
As I was sitting in the office, i received a call from an unknown number. Oh no, another insurance salesman. I can choose to ignore it but I decided to pick it up. Its a call from Brunei, a company is interested in getting my services. This is an interesting development, and I promised to send them my scanned certificates within two days.
You see, I am a very careful person and does not jump blindly at the offer. A lot of people say that companies in Brunei can pay in USD, but first I have to consider 3 factors. Is it a big company or some backyard company, can they really afford to pay me and three, what other benefits can I get from the company.
I have been a lecturer for almost 10 years, but the sad thing is a system developer with 3 years experience can get double my salary. The people that say money is not everything has obviously never gone hungry or ran out of money in the middle of the month. So money is important, don't be a matyr for a company, you have to look out for yourself first. If they can pay, then why not, I have always wanted to drive a mid-ship Toyota MRS.
Sorry to say, I feel education in Malaysia is mostly about the numbers and money. No matter how good you are, if the numbers are not there, you will not get a bonus and no matter how crappy you teach, if the numbers are there, you will get some bonus. Then I feel we don't have to care, just teach, its not my kids anyway. Honestly I feel this is a wrong concept.
Someone was kidding soon we can buy cheap liquor and alcohol at UUM. lol
When I was learning how to drive, my instructor told me, its his responsibility that I learn how to drive properly, not simply just be able to pass the test. I have a lot of respect for him and will still greet him even up to this day if I see him somewhere. Now thats education.Even though he does not have a Master's Degree but he understands that concept. Pity a lot of Doctorate now only see the $$$.
Don't buy farewell gifts yet. Its not necessary that I will accept the offer. I still am waiting for another interview's result for a company in Penang. And I can always visit you all anytime.
