Some unusual kuih Raya.

Today is the first day of Raya, and I am kinda bored in the evening, so decided to blog about some unusual kuih Raya (Raya cookies, although some of them might not be categorized as cookies).

This is known as "love letters" or "kuih kapit" in Malay. In the olden days, when you fancy a girl, you send love letters to her. Remember Cyrano de Bergerac. Nowadays we just send sms or a phone call will do. Anyway, I would not say this is pure Malay cookies, as the Chinese also have this kuih.

Kuih loyang aka Kuih Goyang. You dip a mold in the flour mixture, dip it in hot oil and shake (goyang) it, so the thing will come off the mold.

"Halwa miskat", you mixed some flour with water and filter it. Then cook the filtered mixture for like 2-3 hours until it hardens. Don't look at me, I am not a recipe book.ha ha.

Anyway, everyone enjoy the holidays.
