My Sunday
This week I have 3 days leave due to Wesak day on Friday. I am still trying to heal myself because nowadays I feel very tired. Maybe its not my body that's hurting but my soul.
Went to QB for a walk and they had this "Spell It Right" competition. In this day and age where we have spell checkers and auto correct features in our word processors, it is interesting to see youngsters still able to spell correctly.
The finalists were from Penang Chinese Girl High School, Sek. Men. Bukit Jambul, MRSM Kepala Batas, Jit Sin and Light Street Convent. Only one guy there from MRSM.
In the end, the guy rough it out and managed to win. He will be representing Penang for the Malaysian based competition.

Lots of people watching the competition.
Last month was someone's birthday and I wanted to buy the person a gift. Been searching around for a month but cannot find something suitable. Today I saw something interesting in the gift shop and decided to buy it. No, this is not the person that some of you might be thinking. You think I am crazy enough to put that in my blog? :P

Cool stuff from Japan
Spotted at pinktentacles.com. They are selling zombie meats now in Japan.
This girl can teach you how to cosplay. She is Yuka Saito, a third-year student at Gakushuin University. he’s dressed as Sigyn Erster, a 25-year-old pistol wielding, science studying queen from manga/anime Broken Blade.
Ummm..they have the monster hunter credit card. I want one.
Amy, you might want to buy this book.

Introduction to a balisong
A balisong is another name to the butterfly knife. It originated from the Phillipines and was bought back to the US by the US marines during the 70s. The best balisongs are made in the Phillipines which can set you back around USD300. Even the US made balisongs are good, especially Cold Steel brand. Unfortunately, most of the balisongs here are the CCC type as one expert said it. "Crappy Cheap Chinese" made balisongs which can break during the spinning of the knife.
I used to have 3 balisongs, I broke one, I lost one and now only one is left. I went to the knife shop and it seems that they have a new stock of balisongs so gonna get one this weekend.
So let me introduce you to a balisong.
Basically a balisong has two handles, a blade and a pin that holds the handle together. For an expert, even the handle can be used as a blunt weapon.
Always hold the handle with no pin, cause the blade is on the other side, or you might lose your fingers.
Even if you are twirling it, make sure the blade is behind your finger.
I am ok with a balisong, but I think I can flick open a knife faster than all the fancy moves.

Talk about hogging other people's glory..
It seems the government likes to be associated with famous people. First they give Shah Rukh Khan a Datukship (Malacca Government :S), now they give an award to Ip Chun (Ip Man's son).
So what is the reason that they give this award?? Is it because Ip Man is so famous with that they want to share the limelight?
Someone joked with me, maybe we should give Einstein an award, then we will be really famous XD.

What is software with culture?
Another waste of money. What do you mean Malaysianize the software? Don't tell me changing the menu to the Malay language cost 200 million. Sometimes I honestly feel they don't know what they are talking about. Absolute nonsense.
The last attempt at localizing the software is changing the Windows menu to the Malay language, which was initiated around 1995, and I feel that was an absolute failure. Changing the language does not make the software local. Imagine watching a Spanish tele-drama dubbed in Malay. Does it make the story more local like? Ask yourself and you will know the answer.
In the 90s, we had our Multimedia Super Corridor project and even Bill Gates was supporting it. What happened to it now, was it a failure? You ask yourself honestly what great software have we come up with?
I am very afraid that this software with culture is a flash presentation showing all our traditional dances. And it costs 200 millions!!!!!
The money will be better spend in updating the computer labs at school (make sure it does not collapse anymore), or investing in buying the in-demand software like SAP, ORACLE and so on, so we can train our workforce to be competent in these software.
Its just a suggestion form me, a nobody, but at least i did not say facebook is evil....:P
