Goemon

I am still a bit tired of following all the hacker activities, but anyway I had this movie lying around for a while, so I guess I just make a light movie review. Goemon is sort of a Japanese Robin Hood that robs from the rich and gives to the poor. He sort of died after being executed in boiling oil, but there are many spin offs of that incident, one of them is in Owl's Castle. This is the latest story about Goemon.

The begins at the period when Nobunaga Oda, the man who tried to unite Japan was killed by Akechi Mitsuhide, who in turn was killed by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Hideyoshi then became the ruler of Japan.

During a festival, Goemon broke into a home and stole some stuff including a blue box.

At the same time, Lord Mitsunari, who worked for Lord Hideyoshi came to the house looking for the same box.

He managed to escape, but after finding the box empty, throws it away.

This movie is very colorful and very long, 2 hours 6 minutes..

Lord Mitsunari asked Saizo to find the box and kill everyone in the house.

Meanwhile, Hideyoshi is asking Lady Chacha hand (yeah, I know, funny sub, some website refers her as Princess Chacha, Nobunaga Oda's daughter)

 Upon hearing that everyone in the house was killed, Goemon tried to find the kid but was too late as the kid's mom was killed..

Goemon got the box again, but Saizo appears, which leads to a dizzying CGI fight I have even seen for some time.

I hate the flying kick with the sun as the background scene.

Saizo almost killed Goemon until the appearance of this mysterious man which made him flee.

Later, Goemon found a map inside the box which leads to a secret document..Goemon was shocked upon reading the document.

Then the mysterious man appeared again..

The famous Hattori Hanzo.

Hattori Hanzo now works for Tokugawa Ieyasu.

That night, Goemon broke into Lord Hideyoshi castle and stabbed him, actually its his double. He was hurt while escaping but was saved by Saizo.

Both Saizo and Goemon used to be under Nobunaga Oda, and both of them were trained by Hattori Hanzo.

Meanwhile Lord Hideyoshi has declared war on Korea and China, resulting in two of his followers conspiriing to kill him.

Lord Mitsunari asked Saizo to assassinate Lord Hideyoshi.

While Tokugawa Ieyasu had a talk with Goemon.

Saizo and his ninja attacked  Lord Hideyoshi, but the attack went wrong and he was betrayed by Lord Mitsunari.

But Lord Hideyoshi is still alive..

Saizo was threatened with the safety of his family.

Saizo was executed for the assassination attempt on Lord Hideyoshi and claimed that he is Goemon.

Now its time for the real Goemon to seek revenge on Saizo's death.

Minigun?

With the death of Lord Hideyoshi, now  Lord Mitsunari and Tokugawa Ieyasu fight over control of Japan.

Goemon will risk his life one last time to stop the war and bring peace to Japan.

A nice movie, but they put too many subplots that might confuse viewers not familiar with the story. And its a wee bit too long, over 2 hours.
